Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, an actress/singer who is
exceptionally talented and adept in drama and comedy she was a well-known name
as Peg Bundy (Fox series Married... with Children, 1987). She received two
American Comedy Award nominations and three Golden Globes over its lengthy
duration. Peg Bundy's character was well-known and Katey continued to make a
name for herself as a performer, not just in sitcoms, but playing roles that
were quite different from the role that caught her to the attention of. In
2008, she played the role in the role of Gemma Teller Morrow (the matriarch of
a Hell's Angels-like California biker group) on Sons of Anarchy (2008). The
character she played earned her a Golden Globe Award in 2011 for Best
Performance by an Actress in the TV Series Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal was
the daughter of Sara Zwilling, a singer and Boris Sagal, a noted director of
film and television. Sagal, a Los Angeles native began performing at age 5 and
studied voice and acting at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia,
California. She began her singing career as a waitress during her "salad
years" as well as continuing to perform in the band "The Group with
No Name." After that she was fortunate enough to to hook up with Gene
Simmons (and his 1970s rock group KISS) and was able to secure an offer to
work. She also served as a backup singer for Simmons and other well-known
celebrities like Bob Dylan, Olivia Newton-John and Tanya Tucker. She also
performed with a lot of energy in live performances together with Bette Midler
in the wild stage show of Bette Midler in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
