Rochon was raised in Torrance. Rochon was born to Zelma Staples (a nurse practitioner) as well as Samuel Staples (a businessman and graphic artist). Cerritos high school in Cerritos was where she graduated from. She completed her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and minors in the theater and sociology departments in the California State University Dominguez hills (CSUDH). Rochon has returned to CSUDH in 2016, was the keynote speaker at CSUDH's College of Arts and Humanities the commencement ceremony.

Heather was the host and creator of Drive Yourself Local. In this digital travel series she takes a 1965 Ford Mustang on a journey across America, sharing small-town life. She's also appeared in many movies and TV shows including Nightingale Epic Movie and Tosh

Ullerup's initial role was of Julia Brynn on the remake the television show Battlestar Galactica in 2006, which aired on the Sci Fi Channel. Ullerup played Ashley Magnus on the Sanctuary show on television in the first and second seasons, until it was canceled. People were angry over the departure of her character, and many would like to see her back in the next episodes. It ended 2012 but not before there was a heated controversy. In 2016, Ullerup was cast as Bree O'Brien in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup appeared as Maggie Thomas, the estranged wife of Michael Thomas, in the disaster movie Asteroid: Final Impact (2015). Ullerup's recurring role in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered series has been Dale Travers since 2016.
